Time to put your dancing shoes on
The Heathcote RSL’s black-tie ball is bringing a touch of glamour to the region on Saturday 12 August.
With music from the Australian Army Band and a three-course dinner, it’s a chance to frock up and join in the fun.
Heathcote RSL Sub Branch vice president Miles Humphrey said it was the organisation’s fifth ball and there’d been a two-year hiatus in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID restrictions.
“We went back to it last year and it was fantastic,” he said. “We’re looking forward to doing it again.
“The Australian Army Band is coming up from Melbourne and the entertainment is absolutely first class.”
“It’s a 10-piece jazz ensemble, they start the night with background music while people are eating and as the evening progresses it ramps up with tunes from the 50s, 60s, popular rock and roll, and some slower numbers.”
Mr Humphrey said it was music to get people up out of their seats while the meal was professionally catered served at the tables.
“After people have eaten the dance floor is full,” he said. “We’ve used the same caterer for the last few years and they’re really good.
“It’s fairly informal overall, people get dressed up because it’s black tie and there are dress standards, but other than a quick speech at the beginning of the night to tell everybody what’s going on people just mingle and have a great time.
“We intentionally keep the price really cheap for what it is, an equivalent night anywhere else you’re looking at $160 plus per head.”
Tickets for the ball are $60, to book call 0409 767 582.
