HEATHCOTE Library’s Tiny Art Show opened on Saturday with local artists, families and friends gathering to view a huge variety of creations from artists of all ages.
Residents were invited to pick up tiny canvases from the library in the preceding weeks and express their creativity before returning them for the display.
“The exhibition features a wonderful array of artwork, created by members of the Heathcote community who unleashed their creativity on 4-inch by 4-inch canvases,” said Library Services Officer Emily Alexandra.
“These tiny canvases showcase a wide variety of artistic expression in different mediums, styles, and skill levels – from children’s drawings, 3D wood carvings and scenes to professional pieces.

“The opening of the exhibition was a joy-filled event where local artists gathered to celebrate their work, share stories, and enjoy morning tea together.
“It brought the community together in all its variety, and in the spirit of fun, creativity and collaboration.
“I would like to give a special thanks to Lynne Fouracre and Iris McLean for their toil in mounting the canvases and the local families and community groups such as PizzaBoxPoets, Heathcote Art Group and Heathcote Writer’s Playgroup who got behind the initiative and helped spread the word.”
Ms Alexandra said the community is lucky to have many professional and emerging artists and hobbyists who they would like to elevate and highlight.
“We encourage everyone to come and see this fantastic array of art on tiny canvases whenever you’re in town,” she said.
“The exhibition will be on display throughout February, so don’t miss it.

Coordinator of community-based services at Goldfields Library Corporation, Elise Wright said there was a great turn-out at the opening.
“I would like to thank Emily for coordinating the show,” said Ms Wright.
“She did an amazing job and its clear from the incredible response that the event was a huge success.”
