Uni scholarships aim to help studying
FIRST time tertiary students under twenty-five years of age are being offered the opportunity to apply for a four-thousand-dollar scholarship to assist in their first year of studies.
Applications for the Community Bank Heathcote & District and Bendigo Bank Nagambie Tertiary Scholarships 2024, opened on 1 December and will close on 31 January.
Abigail-Elise Lazenby was awarded Bendigo Bank Nagambie Tertiary Scholarship 2023 which has assisted her in her Bachelor of Biomedicine at La Trobe University.
“This year I have been privileged to attend University, relocating to Bundoora,” she said. “It would not have been possible without my family, friends, and the Bendigo Bank scholarship.
“Access to this scholarship has provided me with more time to focus on my studies and not to worry as much about the financial burden of relocating and studying full time.
“All of the money was put towards future weeks of rent so I did not have to worry about it for an extended period of time.”
Ms Lazenby’s enrolment into the biomedicine degree was inspired by her journey with Type 1 Diabetes.
Diagnosed at 12 years old, she received support from the Diabetes community and hopes she can do the same for someone else.

“Bendigo Bank Nagambie along with Community Bank Heathcote and District are always looking for ways to support youth with their education with their education,” he said.
“This year, we are pleased to raise the scholarship to $4000 to reflect the increased cost of living and studying.
