VINTAGE caravans met classic cars last weekend when the Shake, Rattle & Roll Vintage Caravan Group came to Heathcote.

Heathcote Cars, Coffee and Bikes held their seventh monthly meet on Sunday.

“Everyone loved it,” said Shake, Rattle & Roll founding member Sandra Virgona.

“Our members love classic cars as well as vintage vans.”

About 40 vintage caravans arrived in Heathcote on Friday night and set up camp at Queen Meadow Caravan Park.

“It is a beautiful park,” said Ms Virgona.

“The people there are fantastic, and the weather was perfect.

“Our group explored the town on Saturday morning and in the afternoon had a game of mad cricket.

“There was lots of cheating, but we all had a ball.

“We had our own Ashes Urn and did some Merv Hughes waves.

“On Saturday night we made 150 pancakes in the camp kitchen for supper and drew our raffle.

“Before we left on Sunday many of us strolled the Heathcote main street and looked at all the classic cars.

“It was an outstanding event, and we hope to return next year.”

Founder of Cars, Coffee and Bikes, Kylie Ryan, said there were approximately 132 cars, bikes and trucks at the meet.

“It was great to have the vintage caravan owners in town who happily took time out of their weekend to check out the cars on display.

“Some of the vintage caravan owners said they would come again with their vans to join in with my community event!

“They loved it so much. It really was a great day had by all.

“Lots of newcomers left with a smile and a promise to return.”

The next Cars, Coffee and Bikes event will be held on Sunday 10 November from 9am to 12noon.
