COMMITTEE members have voted last weekend’s Fosterville Gold Mine 2025 Axedale Quick Shear and Family Fun Day an epic success.

Perfect weather brought out appreciative visitors who relaxed and soaked up the atmosphere.

“Everyone made the most of everything on offer,” president Shane Carmody said.

“There was plenty to keep the kids busy with lots of fun activities and the Billabong Ranch Animal Nursery.

“The crowd cheered on shearers, enjoyed live music, shopped at the market and sampled treats from the barbecue and bar.

Visitors browsed a variety of market stalls including Flissy Johnson’s Photography.

“The event wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible sponsors and volunteers who put in countless hours behind the scenes.

“The committee is very grateful to the competitors, entertainers and stall holders whose talents, energy and creativity helped to make the day a success.

Competitors were judged on their times and quality of shearing.

“We would like to thank everyone who attended. The annual Quick Shear is about celebrating and giving back to our community and the funds raised will support or local CFA, school, kindergarten and hall.”

Winners of the Quick Shear competition were: Beginner – Mac Hoppell (1), Will Oyden (2), Riley Read (3); Intermediate – Malachie Connolley (1), Jack Robson (2); Open – Caleb Morgan (1), Jack McArdle (2).

“We are already looking forward to next year,” Mr Carmody said.
