THE SES Heathcote Unit is recruiting new members to join the team.

Becoming a VICSES member is a way to connect with the community and build positive relationships.

Unit controller Darren O’Connor said that volunteering is a great way to develop new skills and make lifelong friends.

“Heathcote SES is looking for more volunteers to join our team,” he said.

“You will develop new skills and be able to help people in our community, especially when things don’t go to plan.

“No experience is necessary, and full national accredited training is provided.

“We are moving into our new facility around the end of next year (2026) so now is a great time to join the team.

“Anyone interested can come and visit us any Thursday night [at] 7pm at the unit, 3 Wright Street.

“I’m also happy to chat if anyone would like to call me personally on 0419 516 414.

“This is an exciting time for Heathcote SES and we’d love to have you as part of the team.”

VICSES provides emergency assistance to thousands of Victorians every year. In 2023-24 it responded to over 31,000 incidents across the state, contributing more than 308,000 hours of helping Victorians in need.
