A LOCAL MP is encouraging the region’s secondary students to enter this year’s Premier’s Spirit of Anzac Prize.

The prize encourages students to explore the Anzac legacy post-World War I and its relevance in our diverse, multicultural twenty-first-century society.

“This competition, which has been held annually since 2005, is a great opportunity for secondary students in years 9 to 12 to increase their understanding and appreciation of the spirit of Anzac,” said Annabelle Cleeland, the Nationals member for Euroa.

“For 2023, the Spirit of ANZAC Prize encourages students to explore what the term ‘Anzac spirit’ means today in a diverse and multicultural Australia.

“Submissions can be made in an array of formats including but not limited to an essay, poem, short story, or even a musical composition.”

Since the competition began, more than 500 students have been awarded prizes and 40 students received scholarships to further their education goals.

A spart of this year’s prize, 10 winners will receive an all-expenses paid trip to Türkiye, including visit to the Gallipoli Peninsula.

For further information and to enter, visit vic.gov.au/SOAP and entries close on 6 September.
