LIMITING scoring chances and capitalising on its own will be a big part of Heathcote’s round three game in this Saturday night’s A Grade netball match at White Hills.

It’s a massive challenge for Heathcote as it takes on last season’s runner-up and long-time powerhouse on its court in Scott Street.

The Brooke Bolton and Kelsey Hayes-coached Heathcote hit back from a first-round loss at Colbinabbin to beat Leitchville-Gunbower last Saturday.

Scores were 10-all at quarter-time, but the Saints gradually took control on their court at Barrack Reserve to win 56-35.

“Our defensive work all the way down the court was awesome,” Bolton said.

“It’s what we need to do against White Hills. Forcing turnovers, making the most of chances is what you have to do against such a strong opponent.”

A long-time strength of the Demons is slick ball movement from defence, through mid-court and to the goaling circle.

Bolton, a dual winner of the Esther Cheatley Medal as league fairest and best will not play in this match because of a wedding.

The Lauren Bowles-coached White Hills won 88-21 at Leitchville in round one and then had a bye.

It was a memorable day for Heathcote on Saturday as A Reserve side marked a 33-32 victory.

The Saints were winless in A-reserve last season.

“It was a fantastic result for the girls and the club. They have worked so hard,” Bolton said.
