Binney Memorial triples draws big field

A FIELD of 22 teams contested the D.M. Binney Memorial Triples tournament on Sunday at Heathcote Bowling Club.
Bowlers from Elmore, Stanhope, Rushworth, Echuca, Kilmore, Woodbury, South Bendigo, Whittlesea, Colbinabbin and Heathcote played four games of 10 ends.
Heathcote’s Blake Barri (s), Greg and Lorraine Speirs were victorious on four wins, 110 points, +47 shots.
Joint runners-up were Wes McCumber (s), John Pasternak and Chris Dowsey from Woodbury, and Stanhope’s Jay Thorne (s), Aussie Maxwell and Tony Young on four wins, 105 points, +18 shots.
Conditions were perfect for last Saturday’s bowls which was three games of pairs and triples.
Winners were Blake Barri (s) and Ilona Hutterer, two wins, 33 points, +12 shots from Rod Hanson (s), Joe McCarthy and Peter Zenz, two wins, 33 points,+4 shots.
A field of 16 contested three games of pairs and triples on May 28.
Winners were Chris Morcom (s) and Denise Anderson, three wins, 42 points, +9 shots, from Rod Hanson (s), Eileen O’Brien and Karen Royal, two wins, 32 points, +5 shots.
The jackpot was won by Dave Thomas, Joe McCarthy and Kevin Moore.
Mixed social bowls this Saturday at Heathcote from 1pm.
A Committee meeting is on Wednesday 11 June at 1pm.
