Bowlers roll to victory on Roos’ ground

HEATHCOTE’S unbeaten run in division three of Bendigo Campaspe Goldfields weekend pennant kept rolling in Saturday’s match on Kangaroo Flat’s greens.

The Saints marked a 35-shot victory in hot and humid conditions.

Chris Morcom scored a 26-18 win against C. Maddern, and Adam Luxford marked a 21-17 result against J. Grant.

Maurice Lee defeated B. Cullen, 26-19, and Bill Gardiner rolled to a 25-11 win against R. Clark.

The Saints are on their greens this Saturday to play Bendigo East on the eve of Heathcote Bowling Club’s 120th anniversary celebrations.

In division six, Heathcote played a closely-fought contest at home against Kangaroo Flat. The Roos won 58-53.

Denis Kilner lost to J. Shelton, 16-24, and Tony Leahy marked a 25-14 win against R. Mills.

The Lorraine Speirs-skipped rink was beaten 20-12 by K. Brennan.

Heathcote plays at North Bendigo this Saturday.

Overnight rain and then on Monday morning meant the division two match between Heathcote and Bendigo East in midweek pennant was abandoned.

The Saints are back home this Monday to play Castlemaine.

Round one in Tuesday Night Social Pennant on November 19 drew more than 70 bowlers to Heathcote’s greens.

The club’s 120th anniversary celebrations are on this Sunday from 1pm in the Heathcote clubrooms. Members to bring a plate.

Pennant practice on Thursdays starts at 4pm and will be followed by a meal.

Christmas break-up and drawing of the raffle will be on Thursday, December 12.
