Bowls bonanza at South Bendigo
IT will be a bowls bonanza on South Bendigo’s greens this Sunday when all four Premier Division matches in the Bendigo leg of Bendigo Campaspe Goldfields Bowls is played at the one venue.
Four big matches roll on from 9.30am when Bendigo East plays Inglewood on Sherman green, and Golden Square faces Kangaroo Flat on Dillon green.
At 2pm it will be Bendigo against Eaglehawk on Sherman green, and South Bendigo up against the in-form Moama on Dillon green.
After nine rounds it’s Moama which holds top spot on the premier division ladder.
The Steamers have achieved a win-loss tally of 7-2, identical to Bendigo and South Bendigo.
Moama is 118 shots up and on 117 points.
In pursuit of back-to-back premierships, Bendigo is 107 up and 116 points, and South Bendigo is on 100 up and 115 points.
It’s a closely fought duel to decide fourth and fifth between Kangaroo Flat, +65 and 88 points, and Bendigo East, -30 and 80 points.
Saturday pennant action resumes on the 20 January when all other divisions will be played.
It’s Cancer Round in which clubs will raise funds to a designated cancer charity such as the Anti-Cancer Council, Ovarian Cancer, Breast Cancer Network, or Sun Smart.
BCGR has granted exemption for this round for bowlers to wear colours representing the club’s nominated charity.
