Callout goes out for players

THE newly established Bendigo Strikers are holding trials for players to join the club for next season’s Victorian Netball League teams. 

Strikers board member Meagan Keating said the group was excited to have the playing positions open. 

“This is a fabulous opportunity for all… athletes wanting to be part of this exciting new venture,” she said. 

“Strikers is where the opportunity to play netball at the next level really started for many in this region, it pioneered the pathway, and I can’t wait to see the next generation do the same. 

“I say to players, if you are thinking about that next stage of your netball pathway, then do it, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. This is the start of something very special. 

“The committee have had strong engagement with high-performance netball in the community, and we are very excited by the prospects a new coaching team can bring to this program.” 

Aspiring players must apply by 12am on Saturday 30 September.

As part of the player recruitment process, athletes new to the Victorian Netball League or those who didn’t play in the VNL in 2023 must attend a screening day at Red Energy Arena on Sunday 1 October. 

Following that two trial sessions will be held for athletes invited back.
