Heathcote retakes place in top five
FOR the first time in six weeks, Heathcote is back in the top five of the A Grade netball ladder in the Bendigo Bank Heathcote DFNL season.
A 14-goal win at North Bendigo last Saturday has put the Saints back in fifth place for the first time since the round two victory over Leitchville Gunbower.
The Heathcote line-up which is jointly coached by Brooke Bolton and Kelsey Hayes has a great chance to build on a one-game and 23 per cent buffer on North Bendigo when the season resumes on 17 June.
Heathcote will be at Barrack Reserve to play Huntly.
“We have really built some momentum across the past three weeks,” Bolton said of a one-goal loss at Toolleen and then wins against Lockington Bamawm United and North Bendigo.
“The team is starting to gel and show what it is capable of. We knew if we won at North Bendigo we would sneak into the top five on percentage.
“It’s a long season and it only really matters if you are still in there at the end of the year.
“With that said, I think it’s really exciting for the team and the club that we have put ourselves in a position where that is achievable.”
The Saints also regain gun goal shooter Annalyse Carroll next round.
“Annalyse is a great inclusion for us,” said Bolton. “Annalyse gives us flexibility to make changes if things are not working, with plans to use Maeve Hogan at either end of the court.”
