Hot Dogs tackle Saints at North Bendigo
NORTH Bendigo’s unbeaten streak will be under threat when they play Heathcote in Saturday’s eighth round of the Bendigo Bank Heathcote DFNL senior footy season.
The Rob Bennett-coached North Bendigo has home-ground advantage at Hibo Hotel Oval in Atkins Street.
The Bulldogs will be aiming to extend their unbeaten streak to seven, but the task will not be easy against a Heathcote line-up which has five wins to one loss on the season and beaten Mount Pleasant and Lockington Bamawm United the past two rounds.
North Bendigo was in control for most of last Saturday’s contest on White Hills turf.
Led by the play of Jordan Ford, wingman Nic Waterson, and Brodie Thomson in the ruck and Tim Devereaux in defence, North Bendigo won 115-66.
A talented Bulldogs’ attack includes Dylan Klemm, Jordan Ford, Hakeem Johnson and Cody Riddick.
The Andrew Saladino-coached Heathcote overcame a slow start on home turf at Barrack Reserve to beat LBU by 33 points.
Gun forward Corey Grindlay looms as a major threat to the Dogs, along with centreman Braden Padmore, rover Liam Jacques, and captain Codie Price off half-back.
After a hat-trick of defeats, LBU holds fifth place on percentage with the Cats are back at home to take on Elmore.
A tough run for Huntly rolls on as the Hawks host White Hills at Strauch Reserve.
Key players for the Huntly Hawks include co-coach Harry Whittle, Harrison Campbell and Steve Kairn.
The Demons have versatile big man Nick Warnock, captain Rhys Irwin, and co-coach Jake Pallpratt in form.
Colbinabbin is back in action after the bye and will be on home turf at M.J. Morgan Oval to take on Leitchville Gunbower which has a 2-5 record after beating Huntly.
The Jed Brain-coached Grasshoppers must win to keep the heat on the LBU Cats.
Mount Pleasant has the bye after winning at Elmore.
