TALENTED teens Elijah Hurley and Bonnie Flynn have capped fine seasons on the football field and netball court with the Heathcote Saints.

At the age of 16, Hurley earnt the under-18s best and fairest award.

Able to play in many roles, Hurley kicked 24 goals and was a key figure in a run by the Adam Birch-coached Saints to the finals. A big season for Hurley included some matches in the reserves and three games in the seniors.

In his first season of AFL, Seb Barnett impressed with his leap and strong marking.

Barnett switched from soccer and was runner-up for the Saints’ under-18s team champion award.

He also played three matches in the seniors and steps up to open-age football next season.

The most consistent award was presented to Ryan Foster.

Pace, fearlessness, skills and reliability are among Foster’s biggest strengths.

He also steps up to open-age football in 2026.

The coaches award was presented to captain Archer Obst. Strong and reliable in defence, Obst’s positive mindset and leadership were key factors in the team’s success.

A highlight was his senior debut against White Hills where he kicked a goal in the win against the Demons at Pigeon Park in Heathcote’s Barrack Reserve.

Best finals player was Wally Butler whose second, third and sometimes fourth efforts were outstanding.

Butler also played for the Saints at senior level and qualifies to play under-18s next season.

The club was rapt with the play and commitment of the 17-under netball team, which finished in seventh place.
