Langer was unveiled by the Super Giants on Friday night, with the former opener to succeed Andy Flower from 2024.
The 52-year-old departed as Australia’s coach in controversial fashion last year after only being offered a six-month contract extension.
He oversaw an extremely successful run during Australian cricket, including an Ashes and World Cup win.
“Lucknow Super Giants are on the journey of building a great story in the IPL,” Langer said.
“We all have a role to play in that journey and I am excited to be a part of the team moving forward.”
Lucknow has finished third in both of their two seasons in the IPL.
Langer has still found himself a part of the Australian cricket summer with his commentary roles through Channel Seven.
He turned the Perth Scorchers into the most successful BBL title during a stint west before earning the Australia job in the wake of Sandpapergate.
