League to mark Indigenous Round
THE feature match as the Bendigo Bank Bendigo FNL marks Indigenous Round this Saturday will be Eaglehawk against Kyneton at Canterbury Park.
Both clubs have passionate fan bases who will be in the Borough for a crucial contest.
The Travis Matheson-coached Eaglehawk is on the rebound from defeat for the first time this season after a 71-74 loss on Kangaroo Flat’s ground at Dower Park.
Kyneton had won its previous two matches, but last Saturday’s home game against Castlemaine was abandoned following the death of a Castlemaine player after he had been injured in the under-18 match.
The Hawks held a two-goal lead at the start of the final term, but could not halt Kangaroo Flat’s charge to victory.
Eaglehawk is likely to have Jarryn and Kallen Geary return this round.
Strathfieldsaye returned to the winners’ list last Saturday when it beat South Bendigo by 11 points at Harry Trott Oval.
Storm is back on home turf at Triple M Park in Tannery Lane to take on a Kangaroo Flat line-up with sights on another upset.
Best for Storm against the Bloods included Daniel Clohesy, Shannon Geary, Tim Hosking and Riley Wilson.
Ryan O’Keefe, Jordan Rouse, Liam Collins and Nicholas Keogh starred for the Nathan Johns-coached Kangaroos who celebrated their most significant victory in several years.
After a 50-point loss at Golden Square, Gisborne is back at Gardiner Reserve to take on the unbeaten Sandhurst which has moved to the top of the ladder.
It’s a daunting task for the Brad Fox-coached Gisborne which is yet to win at home in season 2023.
Best in Sandhurst’s latest win were Noah Walsh, Lachie Hood, Lachlan Wright and Nick Stagg.
Maryborough is back on home turf at Princes Park to take on South Bendigo and the Nathan Horbury-coached Bloods have been beaten their past two hit-outs.
Castlemaine is home at Camp Reserve to play Golden Square which had Ryan Hartley, Jon Coe and Ricky Monti dominate against Gisborne.
