AN unbeaten run is a feat few footy teams have achieved in their history.

Marong is a win away from doing so when it takes on Mitiamo in this Saturday’s final round of the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley FNL senior season.

The reigning premier is hot favourite to claim back-to-back flags, but coach Linton Jacobs will not want to see a drop in desire to win the contest.

The Panthers celebrated their Golden Jubilee in style last Saturday as they beat Bridgewater at Marong’s Malone Park by 146 points.

A highlight was Brandyn Grenfell reaching the century mark with his first goal of the match.

Players to watch for the Panthers include captain and Harding medallist Corey Gregg, Ryley Taylor, Richard Tibbett, and ruckman Michael Bradbury.

In round nine the Panthers dominated on Mitiamo’s turf at John Forbes Oval.

A win-loss tally of 4-11 means the Jon Varcoe-coached Superoos start the round in sixth place.

Superoos’ captain Luke Lougoon and Ross Turner have played outstanding footy every round.

Newbridge is on home turf at Beck Legal Riverside Oval to tackle the second-placed Pyramid Hill.

Big test for the Maroons against the Bulldogs whose only defeats this season have been against a rampant Marong line-up.

Newbridge had the bye last round and will be keen to finish the season with a strong performance before home fans.

Calivil United is home at Calivil to take on Inglewood.

An upset win could lift the Anthony Dennis-coached Demons to the sixth rung, but the Blues should mark their ninth win.

Important match for the Darrell Billett-coached Inglewood as it faces Bridgewater in an elimination final.

Bears-Lagoon Serpentine takes on Maiden Gully YCW at Gadsden Finance Serpentine Reserve.

A margin of 25 points separated these teams when the Bears won at Marist College Bendigo in the ninth round.

It was a strong effort by the Eagles to beat Calivil United last Saturday and the Justin Laird-coached Bears will be fired up to play well approaching a qualifying final showdown with Pyramid Hill.

Bridgewater has the bye.
