MOUNT Pleasant will be trying to find a way to muzzle the North Bendigo Bulldogs when they meet in the Bendigo Bank Heathcote DFNL’s senior football clash this Saturday.
The Blues make their way to North Bendigo’s ground at Bendigo Club Oval in Atkins Street.
A key factor for Mount Pleasant will be Ben Weightman at full-forward.
Since his return to the Blues, Weightman has kicked 17 goals in three games for a team jointly coached by Cameron Carter, Josh Hann and Adam Baird.
Co-coach of Mount Pleasant’s premiership team with Adam Baird in 2023, Weightman kicked off this season at Tullamarine.
It’s a daunting match-up for North Bendigo’s defence against the fast-leading and prolific goalkicker.
Back in round five it was North Bendigo that won on the Blues’ ground at Toolleen by 34 points.
The Rob Bennett and Ryan Hartley-coached Bulldogs will be chasing a 12th consecutive victory.
In the on-ball duels, Mount Pleasant has Chris Down, co-coach Josh Hann, Brodie Montague and Mitch Rovers to take on Jordan Hargreaves, Ryan Hartley, Harrison Jarvie and Liam Dillon.
It will be a massive test for Blues’ defenders Will Wallace and Bryce Hinneberg against Dylan Klemm and Sam Dean.
After a 73-all draw when they last met, Leitchville Gunbower and Heathcote will clash at Gunbower.
The Shannon Keam-coached LG Bombers will be wary of a Saints lineup that broke through for its first victory of the season last Saturday.
Dylan Johnstone kicked eight goals for the Andrew Saladino and Liam Jacques-coached Saints in a one-goal win against Lockington Bamawm United Cats at Pigeon Park in Barrack Reserve.
The Winslow Constructors White Hills Demons will be on their turf in Scott Street to face Harlowe Huntly Hawks.
Elmore hosts Colbinabbin in the clash of the Bloods and Grasshoppers.
Lockington Bamawm United has the bye.
