Saints target chance to bank wins
HEATHCOTE co-coach Brooke Bolton has said she believes the Saints are a great chance to kick off a winning run in Saturday’s A Grade netball match at Toolleen.
The Saints will be on Mount Pleasant’s court for the round six match in the Bendigo Bank Heathcote DFNL season.
A tough run for the Saints has included back-to-back matches against league powers in White Hills and Elmore.
“The next four weeks are all winnable games,” Bolton said of improving on a one and three record.
“We have been up against the league’s top three which was tough, but also learnt a lot from those matches,” said Bolton, who is co-coach of the Saints with Kelsey Hayes.
“To be up in the second quarter against Elmore was a great effort,” Bolton said.
“We lost a bit of momentum and a team as strong and experienced as Elmore was able to get away from us.”
The Saints were also without gun goaler Annalyse Carroll, so there was a switch to defence as Maeve Hogan went to attack.
Although the final margin was 18 goals, Bolton could not fault the team’s effort.
“The attitude of the girls going into, during and after the match was excellent,” she said. “Playing the full 15 minutes in every quarter is what we are working at.
“Do that against Mounts and we will be tough to beat.”
After the hit-out at Toolleen, Heathcote is at home to Lockington Bamawm United, away to North Bendigo, and then takes on Huntly and Colbinabbin at Barrack Reserve.
