{"id":100023,"date":"2025-06-24T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-06-23T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/?p=100023"},"modified":"2025-06-18T22:25:57","modified_gmt":"2025-06-18T12:25:57","slug":"do-some-dirty-deeds-with-mudbrick-motley-theatre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/news\/do-some-dirty-deeds-with-mudbrick-motley-theatre\/","title":{"rendered":"Do some dirty deeds with Mudbrick Motley Theatre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>REHEARSALS are currently underway for the Mudbrick Motley Theatre production of Dirty Deeds at the Diggings, a colonial melodrama set in the Heathcote Goldfields.<\/p>\n<p>Director Maree Hingston is seeking two more cast members for the production.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Unfortunately, we have lost two cast members due to work commitments,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We need one male and one female to fill the roles of hero and heroine.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;No singing is required, and anyone interested can call me on 0409 565 432 to arrange an audition.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ms Hingston described the melodrama as a product of 19th century theatre.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There is a pure-hearted heroine pursued by an evil villain, and eventually saved by the brave hero, accompanied by cheers and boos from the audience,&#8221; she saic.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our local cast are learning lines and rehearsing old songs, many of which were written in the 19th century.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a way of emulating the format of the British Music Hall, in which performers encouraged audiences to join in the chorus of the popular songs of the day.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is an entertaining show which will have two performances only at the RSL Hall.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The first performance will be on Sunday afternoon, 3 August, followed by an evening show on Saturday, 9 August.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Entry will be $15 per person by cash at the door.<\/p>\n<p>Enquiries can be directed to Robyn on 0401 909 112 or Mary at <a href=\"mailto:mary.nurthen@gmail.com\">mary.nurthen@gmail.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>REHEARSALS are currently underway for the Mudbrick Motley Theatre production of Dirty Deeds at the Diggings, a colonial melodrama set in the Heathcote Goldfields.
