{"id":100226,"date":"2025-07-14T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-07-13T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/?p=100226"},"modified":"2025-07-10T09:20:00","modified_gmt":"2025-07-09T23:20:00","slug":"take-a-look-at-tooby-primary-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/news\/take-a-look-at-tooby-primary-school\/","title":{"rendered":"Take a look at Tooby Primary School"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TOOBORAC Primary School needs just twelve enrolments for it to operate next year, and will hold a school tour today, Friday 11 July, at 9.30am<\/p>\n<p>The school was deemed non-operational last year after enrolment numbers fell due to families leaving the area and older students moving on to high school.<\/p>\n<p>A playgroup has been running at the school each week during term time and the Tooborac Primary School Community Action Group was formed to develop an enrolment strategy.<\/p>\n<p>Last week the playgroup held a party for the end of term and to thank Janita Dundon who has been running the group.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I have really enjoyed planning the sessions and am grateful everyone was willing to sing and dance along with me,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The ball is rolling with a new coordinator for Term 3.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;All the details will be on our Tooborac Playgroup Facebook page.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Parents of the children attending the playgroup are hoping the school will be operational again by the time their children are old enough to attend but for most, it won&#8217;t be until 2027.<\/p>\n<p>Emily Alexandra is hoping the school will be operational by the time daughter Leonie is ready to attend.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2025\/07\/Toobyplaygroup2_01472.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Only a handful of enrolments are needed to ensure Tooborac Primary School will be operational for the children attending playgroup.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When I first came to a playgroup while the school was operating, I walked through the gates and was greeted by beautiful gardens, children&#8217;s art and craft, a flock of healthy chickens and engaging staff,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Tooborac is our school of choice because after having a tour I could see how nurturing and vibrant the environment and multi-age learning was.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The children were relaxed, confident and capable and I was absolutely gobsmacked at the quality on offer right on our doorstep.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are very lucky to have this school for our children. It is a real treasure and has so much to offer us all.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have attended the volunteer-led playgroup regularly and have cherished the weekly catch ups with other families and making precious memories together in the pre-school years.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I have put my hand up to run some sessions if needed next term to keep up the momentum and to contribute to the community we have found a sense of belonging in.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Private tours are available for anyone who can&#8217;t make it today.
