{"id":100378,"date":"2025-07-26T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-07-25T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/?p=100378"},"modified":"2025-07-23T21:16:51","modified_gmt":"2025-07-23T11:16:51","slug":"after-school-art-program-returns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/news\/after-school-art-program-returns\/","title":{"rendered":"After school art program returns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Heathcote Contemporary Art at Community House After School Art program has returned for Term 3.<\/p>\n<p>The classes are facilitated by Charley Leader who has been teaching for almost 20 years.<\/p>\n<p>The Swinburne art graduate said it is important to teach children to find their own way in relation to various art mediums.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I teach them about the different ways an artist works,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Then encourage them to use the knowledge they already have.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I want them to feel empowered and to find confidence in their art so they can articulate their own experiences.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2025\/07\/CharleyLeader2_79313.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"602\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Art teacher Charley Leader encourages children to listen to themselves and find their own voice.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I really love the way visual art connects with what they are already doing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Heathcote Community House executive officer Vicki Forde said she is pleased the centre is able to offer the classes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are very fortunate to have Charley, a professional teacher with loads of experience in the arts and with children alike to be available to our local community,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We look forward to displaying some of the artwork in the future.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Classes run from 5.30pm to 6.30pm on Wednesdays. Cost is $15 per class or $10 for concession or siblings.<\/p>\n<p>All materials are included. Bookings are essential.
