TWENTY-one foundation students from Heathcote primary School celebrated their first one hundred days at school on the first Friday of term 3.<\/p>\n
In contrast to past years where foundation students dressed up as 100-year-old people, this year they invited the whole school to celebrate with them.<\/p>\n
“100 Days Brighter celebrates the first 100 days of school for our foundation students,” said HPS principal Carolyn Crowther.<\/p>\n
“Our celebration included a parade, special 100 themed activities and finished with a whole school disco.<\/p>\n
“All students and staff were encouraged to wear brightly coloured clothes to celebrate the learning that has occurred for everyone in the first 100 days.<\/p>\n
“Learning is one of our school values.”<\/p>\n
The foundation students reflected on some of the things they have learnt.<\/p>\n
“I’ve learnt how to count to 100,” said Heidi. “And I can get to the end of the monkey bars now.”<\/p>\n
One student was pleased to be able to read new words while another is proud to be able to spell hard words.<\/p>\n
“I am very proud of the learning we’ve achieved so far this year,” said foundation teacher Kirsty Hamilton.<\/p>\n
“I can’t wait to see what we achieve together in the rest of the year.”<\/p>\n
At the end of the day, the foundation students all agreed it was a great way to celebrate, especially the disco, wearing bright clothes and playing on the big kids’ playground.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
