FAMILY and friends joined Heathcote Primary School students for a Science Fair recently to celebrate National Science Week.<\/p>\n

The event was led by STEM teacher David Close.<\/p>\n

Principal Carolyn Crowther said everyone enjoyed the afternoon and there was some enthusiastic feedback from the students and visitors.<\/p>\n

“The Science Fair brought weeks of preparation, experiments and creations together to share with the school community of family and friends,” she said.<\/p>\n

“Students identified an area of specific interest and either designed an experiment or built a model or invention.<\/p>\n

“Among the projects were erupting volcanoes and tests on the impact of different liquids on solids, including which liquid made Gummy Bears expand the most.”<\/p>\n

Grade 5 student Reynald built a house.<\/p>\n

“Many people loved my house, especially the lights,” he said.<\/p>\n

“I had fun talking to people about lights from a battery.”<\/p>\n

Hazel in grade 3 enjoyed interacting with her fellow students.<\/p>\n

“I liked how I got to walk around and look at everyone’s experiment,” she said.<\/p>\n

The variety of projects impressed grade 4 student Teddy.<\/p>\n

“I think all the experiments were extraordinary because they all had different methods and it’s good to have that,” he said.<\/p>\n

Students are already looking forward to next year’s Science Fair.<\/p>\n

“I don’t know why the magnetic slime didn’t work,” said grade 3 student Noah.<\/p>\n
