REVVING engines returned to Mia Mia for the second year running for the season opener of the Australian Ride On Lawn Mower Racing Association.<\/p>\n

Entrants travelled from as far as South Australia and New South Wales for the event.<\/p>\n

“The rain held off and we had a great day,” said Tracey Peter who races with other family members.<\/p>\n

“It was great to return to Mia Mia.<\/p>\n

“Everyone has been good to us.<\/p>\n

“Last year we organised the event in just four weeks, and we were really happy to come back.”<\/p>\n

AROLMRA members range in age from seven to the oldest member in his eighties.<\/p>\n

“We travel all over the country,” said Ms Peter.<\/p>\n

Fine weather and a great crowd came together for the season opener or the Australian Ride On Lawn Mower Association.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

“Our next event will be in Yamba Queensland, and we travel all over Australia to different events.<\/p>\n

“It is a great sport with everyone working in with each other.<\/p>\n

“There were 65 competitors at Mia Mia with 15 travelling from South Australia.<\/p>\n

“Racing was very competitive, and we had a great crowd of spectators.”<\/p>\n

The AROLMRA began in 1988. The first race was held after five men in a small country pub in Harrietville challenged each other to a race around the local hills.<\/p>\n

These days the AROLMRA is a non-profit organisation, run primarily for racing enthusiasts and their friends while raising funds for community organisations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
