{"id":101191,"date":"2025-10-10T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-09T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/?p=101191"},"modified":"2025-10-08T20:43:03","modified_gmt":"2025-10-08T09:43:03","slug":"twenty-year-project-comes-to-fruition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/news\/twenty-year-project-comes-to-fruition\/","title":{"rendered":"Twenty-year project comes to fruition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A LARGE crowd of residents from Pyalong and the surrounding districts gathered for CFA Open Day at the new fire station last weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The much-awaited new building has been 20 years in the planning for the brigade which has been serving the community since 1937.<\/p>\n<p>The new facility has fit-for-purpose amenities, including a motor room with two reverse-in bays, storage spaces, operational areas, a multi-purpose room and separate turn-out spaces for men and women.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2025\/10\/PyaCFA009_92189.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"459\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pyalong CFA has been serving the community since 1937.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Attendees toured the station and viewed a display of historic memorabilia and vintage fire trucks.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It has been a long time coming,&#8221; said Pyalong CFA Captain Brendan Kelly.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The new building brings us up to standard.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our old building had no facilities for women and only limited ones for the men.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Now we have everything we need including great storage room.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re not cramped, and we are visible situated right in the centre of town.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2025\/10\/PyaCFA018_93488.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"460\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Locals brought along some of the older fire trucks used in the past.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was a really good turn out for the open day with private citizens, political representatives and support from our neighbouring brigades.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Among those attending was the longest surviving Pyalong CFA captain Mick Ryan.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The new building is certainly not what I was used to,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When I first joined, 62 years ago, we housed our truck in a shed on Alf Brown&#8217;s property.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This new building looks fantastic.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2025\/10\/PyaCFA030_97020.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"464\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Six-year-old Ned attended the Pyalong CFA Open Day with members of the Nulla Vale CFA.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Ryan was captain from 1983 until 2001.<\/p>\n<p>Volunteer Ben Missen said he was pleased to see so many people coming along to inspect the new facility and supporting the CFA.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a massive upgrade,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It will be really good for our training and for community engagement.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Volunteers are always needed and anyone interested can contact Captain Brendan Kelly on 0419 135 815.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A LARGE crowd of residents from Pyalong and the surrounding districts gathered for CFA Open Day at the new fire station last weekend.
