HEATHCOTE residents attended a Get Fire Ready session at the fire station last weekend to learn how to prepare properties for the upcoming fire season.<\/p>\n

While there they enjoyed a free sausage sizzle with activities and fairy floss for the kids.<\/p>\n

“It was good to see lots of residents coming along to seek information about preparing their properties,” said community safety coordinator Evan Pritchard.<\/p>\n

“They were able to chat with CFA volunteers over a sausage while the kids enjoyed looking at the fire truck and some fairy floss.”<\/p>\n

Heathcote CFA has launched the Property Advice Visit Service Program.<\/p>\n

“We have identified properties within Heathcote as having significant fire risk,” said Mr Pritchard.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

“To assist everyone in identifying and treating risks the brigade can provide a one-on-one free property visit.<\/p>\n

“The Property Advice Visit Service has been developed for rural residents.<\/p>\n

“It will help residents to understand their local fire risk and prepare properties for summer with helpful hints and tips.<\/p>\n

“They will be able to plan for bad days and make good decisions.<\/p>\n

“We provide information on whether to leave early or to stay and defend your property and information about bushfires and pets.”<\/p>\n
