Photo: SANDRA JAMES<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He worked beside his father Hugh in his factory for many years making hundreds of rides for shows and major shopping centres.<\/p>\n<p>He has also worked as a delegate overseeing shows and was senior vice-president of the Victorian Showmen&#8217;s Guild.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is an honour to receive recognition,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I have so many good memories.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Even when things are difficult it is an adventure because you learn something.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I try to make a good time out of everything, including the bad days.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I get a kick out of things and really love to see people happy in sideshow alley.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I have worked all over the country and visited every state.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I still love it all and have no plans to retire.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Miller was named after his Uncle Charlie who lived at Harmony Lodge, High Camp, near Kilmore and worked his Houdini Water Torture Cell sideshow at the Heathcote Show in 1953-54.<\/p>\n<p>Over the years, Mr Miller has worked children&#8217;s and teenage rides, shooting galleries, mobile food wagons and other sideshows.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2025\/10\/CharlieMiller1_40021-scaled.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"1300\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A fourth-generation showman, Charlie Miller began working with his parents when he was seven years old.
