HEATHCOTE Library will host a talk by author Peter Mitchell on Thursday 30 October from 2pm to 3pm.<\/p>\n

Mitchell will discuss his latest release Under the Same Moon: An Australian Battalion at War and a Family at Home.<\/p>\n

“The story follows a family, their sons, and the men of the Victorian battalion they join, set against a bygone Australia during World War II,” said community library officer Hannah Thomson.<\/p>\n

“Peter Mitchell has drawn extensively on family correspondence, private papers and oral history in this work of creative non-fiction, reflecting his passion for history.<\/p>\n

“Under the Same Moon tells the story of a family, their sons, and the men of the Victorian battalion they join, set against the backdrop of a bygone Australia during World War Two.<\/p>\n

“It is as much about the families left behind in Melbourne and life on the home front as it is about the lives of boyhood friends who went to war.”<\/p>\n

Mitchell is a lawyer by training and was a partner in a major law firm.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

For many years he ran a regional non-profit organisation, based in Singapore. His passion is history.<\/p>\n

He grew up listening to his father and his friends regularly talk about their wartime experiences and has read extensively.<\/p>\n
