The Better Roads Blitz Central Victoria program is under way, delivering $976 million in upgrades across key regional routes. Road users can expect smoother, safer travel as crews work to resurface and rebuild hundreds of kilometres of vital connections.<\/p>\n

The Allan Labor Government has launched the Better Roads Blitz, which will see hundreds of road resurfacing and repair projects delivered between now and mid-2026. State Labor Members Jacinta Allan and Maree Edwards said the program focuses heavily on regional areas, with 70 per cent of the budget allocated to fixing country roads.<\/p>\n

Key routes set for major works include Heathcote-Kyneton Road, the Midland Highway, the Calder Highway, Bendigo-Maldon Road, the Loddon Valley Highway and Mount Macedon Road.<\/p>\n

One of Bendigo\u2019s notorious blackspots, the McIvor Highway<\/a>, has already received attention, with recent safety upgrades underway<\/p>\n

Premier and Member for Bendigo East Jacinta Allan said the investment was focused on making everyday travel safer and more efficient.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re investing nearly a billion dollars to rebuild and repair the roads Victorians rely on every day \u2013 from major highways to the local roads that keep communities moving,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The program will also tackle maintenance on bridges, traffic lights and electronic signage, while road crews will slash and spray tens of thousands of kilometres of roadside vegetation and clean graffiti.<\/p>\n

Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards said the scale of the program reflects a shift in government priorities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe last Liberal National Government cut roads maintenance funding and jobs \u2013 we\u2019re getting on and delivering the biggest single-year investment in road maintenance in Victoria\u2019s history,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

In addition to easing congestion and improving road surfaces, the works aim to support freight transport efficiency and road safety across the state.<\/p>\n
