{"id":101575,"date":"2025-11-19T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-11-18T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/?p=101575"},"modified":"2025-11-12T23:02:34","modified_gmt":"2025-11-12T12:02:34","slug":"personal-protection-and-self-defence-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/news\/personal-protection-and-self-defence-event\/","title":{"rendered":"Personal protection and self-defence event"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GOLDFIELDS Martial Arts will hold a weekend event promoting personal protection skills and self-defence moves for beginners and experienced people.<\/p>\n<p>The Urban Steel 2025 Camp will be facilitated by Mick Nicholls, founder of Australian Freestyle Combat in association with Diamond Valley Martial Arts Academy.<\/p>\n<p>The event aims to provide participants with ready-to-go skills and is suitable for all abilities.<\/p>\n<p>It will be held Heathcote RSL Hall on 29 and 30 November.<\/p>\n<p>Participants can attend for one day or the whole weekend and will include street situation awareness, unarmed defence techniques, street boxing, concept-based weapon training, grappling and street takedowns.<\/p>\n<p>Colin Stephens started Goldfields Martial Arts early this year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We meet on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 5.30pm to 8pm,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Freestyle Combat is a progressive martial arts system specialising in self-defence and personal protection concepts.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is based on real world experience in crowd control and security work.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I also train in Melbourne with Mick.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At Goldfields Martial Arts, training in Australian Freestyle Combat is not just about learning to defend yourself; it&#8217;s about having fun, getting fit and making new friends.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our uncomplicated, easy-to-learn system is perfect for anyone looking to improve their personal protection skills while enjoying the benefits of martial arts training.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Those who are unable to attend the weekend or who would like to attend a free introductory session can register interest at fchcote.au.<\/p>\n<p>To book for the camp go to <a href=\"http:\/\/linke.to\/usc2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">linke.to\/usc2025<\/a>.
