Tens of thousands of high school graduates are set to learn the fruits of their years of hard work as they wake to their ATAR scores.<\/p>\n
From 7am on Thursday, a record 49,310 Victorian students will receive their tertiary admission scores, an increase of 1849 on the previous year.<\/p>\n
Christmas will come early for the 42 newly graduated students who achieved th perfect score of 99.95, comprising of 27 males, 14 females and one who is gender-neutral.<\/p>\n
The average ATAR for this year’s students is 69.48, slightly lower than the 69.52 average of the 2024 cohort.<\/p>\n
Boys scored an average of 68.60, girls achieved 70.20, and the average ATAR for gender-neutral students is 72.40.<\/p>\n
There were 24,291 unique combinations of VCE subjects used in the 2025 ATAR calculations, with the most popular grouping of subjects – English, biology, health and human development, general mathematics, and psychology – studied by 369 students.<\/p>\n
English was the most common subject with 40,285 students, followed by general mathematics with 30,189, psychology (15,756), mathematical methods (15,756) and biology (14,331).<\/p>\n
More Victorians are also pursuing tertiary study with a three per cent increase in total applications for courses starting in 2025, compared to the same time last year.<\/p>\n
Graduates will receive their first round of offers on December 23 followed by further offers in January and February.<\/p>\n
Students should celebrate their offer with their families, friends and teachers, VTAC chief executive Teresa Tjia said.<\/p>\n
“Your ATAR only tells part of the story,” she said.<\/p>\n
“Alongside the number you receive today, celebrate the skills, relationships, and strengths that you’ve developed in all areas of life throughout your years of schooling.”<\/p>\n
Students should take the time to interpret their results, as some might be feeling quite disappointed with their scores, La Trobe University professor Therese Keane said.<\/p>\n
“There are so many different pathways now, so whatever you get won’t be the defining moment that stops you from pursing your dreams,” she said.<\/p>\n
Students in South Australia and the Northern Territory will receive their ATAR results on December 15, followed by Tasmania on December 17, NSW and the ACT on December 18, and WA on December 19.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
