the City of Greater Bendigo<\/a> said the pool \u201cremains closed for public safety reasons\u201d and confirmed that recent investigations had not yet resulted in a fix.<\/p>\n\u201cOur aim is to open the pool for the 2025\/26 summer season as soon as possible, however public safety remains our highest priority,\u201d the update stated.<\/p>\n
Since late November, the council has engaged a consultant electrical inspector and a specialist contractor. They have suggested next steps, which are now being reviewed in partnership with Powercor. There is currently no timeframe for further works.<\/p>\n
To support the community during the Heathcote Swimming Pool closure, the council is offering free 2025\/26 summer season passes. These allow free access to all Greater Bendigo outdoor pools and the Gurri Wanyarra Wellbeing Centre.<\/p>\n
In addition, pass holders can receive free bus transport between Heathcote and Bendigo Station. This provides convenient access to the Brennan Park Swimming Pool in Kennington and the Faith Leech Aquatic Centre in central Bendigo.<\/p>\n
Passes are available from the Heathcote Swimming Pool during designated hours or from the Heathcote Visitor Information Centre. Proof of residency is required.<\/p>\n
The ongoing closure has sparked frustration among locals, who have missed out on two summer seasons of swimming and community programs. With other ageing aquatic centres across regional Victoria facing infrastructure challenges, residents are concerned about long-term access to local facilities.<\/p>\n
