WITH thunderstorms predicted, the Heathcote Christmas Carols committee decided to relocate the event from Barrack Reserve to the RSL Hall last weekend in the interests of safety for performers and attendees.<\/p>\n

The committee and helpers decked the hall in Christmas glory so that none of the festive spirit was lost.<\/p>\n

“It was a difficult decision,” said committee member Hannah Thomson.<\/p>\n

“However, with bad weather predicted, we decided it was better to ensure we didn’t have to relocate at the last minute.<\/p>\n

Owen, Jess and Wren were thrilled to receive a bag of lollies from Santa.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

“We really appreciate the community adjusting to the last-minute change of venue.<\/p>\n

“We recognise that being inside wasn’t ideal and made it difficult for families.<\/p>\n

“We hope to be back outside next year.”<\/p>\n

Trevor and Jennie Moore agreed the carol singing from performers young and old was terrific.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

Ms Thomson said the committee could not have organised the event without a lot of help.<\/p>\n

“We would like to thank our sponsors for the event Mandalay\/Alkane, the City of Greater Bendigo, the Heathcote Lions Club for auspicing the event for us, and the Marist Band who perform every year for us for a small donation.<\/p>\n

Emma wowed the audience with her rendition of Last Christmas.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

“We thank all of our fabulous performers who practised hard for the event and did a wonderful job, and Tania, Rob and Adrian Malavisi for their hard work with the performance list, emceeing and setting up the stage and beautiful decorations.”<\/p>\n

Wayne Wright delivered a specially cleaned trailer stage, Heathcote Cricket Club moved their game to Mia Mia so the oval would be free for the carols, and the Heathcote Fire Brigade and Ian Davies made sure Santa got to the venue safely.<\/p>\n

Heathcote Ukulele Group (H.U.G.) kept audience toes tapping with their lively performance.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

“Kylie and Brenda delivered the lollies donated by Allens,” Ms Thomson said.<\/p>\n

“The Heathcote Community House craft group bagged up the lollies for Santa, and Natasha and the crew from Mandalay\/Alkane helped Santa hand out lollies.<\/p>\n

“Una and the Pianta family delivered dinner for Marist Band. Lester, Ness and Terry set up the chairs.<\/p>\n

The Mudbrick Motley Theatre group entertained the audience with some special Australian carols.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

“We thank everyone who stayed back at the end and helped us pack up and clean up the hall.”<\/p>\n
