Back in round 6 it was Heathcote that rolled to a 26-shot win on East’s greens in Lansell Street.<\/p>\n
A 31-shot loss to third-placed Kangaroo Flat in last Saturday’s play sent the Saints from top spot to the third rung.<\/p>\n
The Kangaroos bound their way to a 91-60 victory.<\/p>\n

Maurice Lee won the first two ends and led by four shots after 11 ends.<\/p>\n
The Roos won the next five ends and the last two ends to clinch an 18-16 victory.<\/p>\n
Adam Luxford’s rink made a slow start and was down by six shots on the eighth end.<\/p>\n
The Saints lifted to win the next four ends and were shots up on the last three ends to claim a 19-18 victory.<\/p>\n
Chris Morcom’s rink made an even start to be down by two shots after 10 ends.<\/p>\n
Kangaroo Flat’s rink won four consecutive ends and the last two ends to seal a five-shot win.<\/p>\n
Bill Gardiner’s rink faced a 17-shot deficit after eight ends.<\/p>\n
The Saints worked hard, but won just three ends as the visitors rolled to a 25-shot victory.<\/p>\n
In division six, Heathcote scored a must-win victory at Bendigo East to stay in the finals race.<\/p>\n
The Saints won 59-44.<\/p>\n

The Brian Berger-skipped rink was down by four shots after nine ends and faced the same margin by the 16th end.<\/p>\n
Wins on the last five ends made it a 16-all draw.<\/p>\n
Ron Barron’s rink faced a six-shot deficit after 11 ends.<\/p>\n
Wins on the next five ends put the Saints in front.<\/p>\n
Although the Magpies won the last end it was Heathcote that led 17-15 after the final bowl.<\/p>\n
Lorraine Speirs and her team were beaten on the first two ends, but levelled scores on the eighth end. The Saints were beaten on just five more ends on their way to a 26-13 result.<\/p>\n
Heathcote plays Strathfieldsaye Blue at Strathfieldsaye this Saturday.<\/p>\n
The Blues won by nine shots at Heathcote in the sixth round.<\/p>\n
Midweek pennant resumes next Monday at 10am.<\/p>\n
The Saints will play Harcourt at Harcourt.<\/p>\n
