{"id":102402,"date":"2026-01-30T18:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-01-30T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/?p=102402"},"modified":"2026-01-30T18:00:00","modified_gmt":"2026-01-30T07:00:00","slug":"forage-and-feast-a-winner-so-far-organisers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/news\/forage-and-feast-a-winner-so-far-organisers\/","title":{"rendered":"Forage and Feast a winner so far: organisers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE 2026 instalment of the Forage and Feast festival is proving popular with both hosts and visitors, according to an organiser.<\/p>\n<p>Commerce Ballarat project coordinator Michaela Beggs said the organisation was very satisfied with how the annual event had been going since it began on 12 January.<\/p>\n<p>Food and wine growers and producers in the local government areas of Ararat, Ballarat, Golden Plains, Hepburn, Moorabool and Pyrenees have scheduled an extensive program of events and activities until mid-February as they offer an insight into the Central Highlands region\u2019s food culture.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[It\u2019s going] really good so far, from the feedback we\u2019ve had from hosts and from attendees as well, it\u2019s been really exciting to see that everyone seems to be enjoying themselves \u2013 trying the food and the wine,\u201d Ms Beggs said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 535px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/01\/06_54869.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"535\" height=\"669\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The third annual festival offers a wide range of events and activities based around the Central Highlands region&#8217;s food and wine culture.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s been some really great events this year so we\u2019re really excited to see those have really good attendance and people having great experiences.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ms Beggs said the festival, now in its third year, suffered significant disruption last year because of the Grampians fires.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cQuite a number of events over that side had to be cancelled, so we\u2019re crossing our fingers that those guys are not going to have any issues this year,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 523px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/01\/08_55515.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"523\" height=\"654\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">People taking part in one of the many activities and events are being treated to a deep dive into local producers&#8217; creations.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms Beggs also said some hosts pulled out in 2025 due to low booking numbers, but so far this year there had been just one cancellation \u2013 and that had been due to the recent extreme weather.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat was an outside event&#8230;and they\u2019re looking to reschedule that anyway,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The final major event under the specific Commerce Ballarat banner was Tuesday\u2019s Biznet breakfast at the Ballarat Wildlife Park, but the program continues until 15 February.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat will be the last event that we run, but there\u2019s lots of great stuff happening around the region right up to the end of the festival,\u201d Ms Beggs said.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Beggs said some events had reported being booked out, but final numbers would not be collated until after the festival.<\/p>\n<p>Forage and Feast is now in its third year.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 543px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/01\/10_57447.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"543\" height=\"679\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Central Highlands producers and growers are displaying and sharing their wares throughout the Forage and Feast festival.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first year was very Ballarat-focused, and last year we made a concerted effort to expand it out into the six LGAs that it covers now,\u201d Ms Beggs said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve had some fresh faces jump on board this year.
