{"id":102511,"date":"2026-02-13T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-02-12T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/?p=102511"},"modified":"2026-02-11T17:19:19","modified_gmt":"2026-02-11T06:19:19","slug":"bowls-open-day-a-winner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/news\/bowls-open-day-a-winner\/","title":{"rendered":"Bowls open day a winner"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HEATHCOTE Bowling Club held a very successful open day last weekend, with many participants trying bowling for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>Among the attendees were Gail Marie and Noel Jenkin, who signed up to join the club as social members.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was a great night,&#8221; Mr Jenkin said. &#8220;We have only been to the club once before, about two years ago, when there was a fundraiser for MND.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;After a hot day, the weather cooled down and it was a really good turnout.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The couple have lived in Heathcote for three years.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2026\/02\/Bowlingclubopen1_38358.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Daniel and Sue Fitton helped man the popular barbecue.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is a lovely place to live,&#8221; Ms Jenkin said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have made lots of friends through the RSL club and the golf club and now we have signed up to join the bowling club.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Everyone was very welcoming and we enjoyed trying it out on the green.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Bowling club president Lorraine Spiers said she was very impressed with the number of people attending.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am amazed at how many people have come along,&#8221; she said. &#8220;It is really good for the club.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I would like to thank everyone for attending and a special thank you to Adam and Brett for organising the event, and DJ Steve for supplying great music.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Co-organiser Adam Luxford said he was really pleased with the number of people who went along.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It has been a great success,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am thrilled with the number of people who have taken the opportunity to come down and have a look at the club and try bowling.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_102515\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-102515\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-102515\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2026\/02\/Bowlingclubopen4_40683-1-rotated.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"900\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2026\/02\/Bowlingclubopen4_40683-1-rotated.jpg 800w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2026\/02\/Bowlingclubopen4_40683-1-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2026\/02\/Bowlingclubopen4_40683-1-683x1024.jpg 683w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2026\/02\/Bowlingclubopen4_40683-1-768x1152.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-102515\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">DJ Steve supplied music for the event.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have two weeks left on our current Tuesday night Barefoot Bowling competition, then we will be starting an Autumn Barefoot Bowling competition.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It will be good to have some new members.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There will be a DJ playing music, finger food and a barbecue.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The cost will be $15 per person.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Everyone is welcome.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>HEATHCOTE Bowling Club held a very successful open day last weekend, with many participants trying bowling for the first time.
