{"id":102634,"date":"2026-02-27T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-02-26T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/?p=102634"},"modified":"2026-02-25T17:00:16","modified_gmt":"2026-02-25T06:00:16","slug":"fishing-friends-enjoy-the-moment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/news\/fishing-friends-enjoy-the-moment\/","title":{"rendered":"Fishing Friends enjoy the moment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KEEN anglers from Heathcote Angling Club braved the rain for the monthly Fishing Friends outing at Reflections at Eppalock last weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The event is held in conjunction with Dementia Alliance providing an opportunity for people living with dementia and their caregivers to connect over a favourite pastime.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is not just fishing,&#8221; said angling club president Rudi Frahm.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is a way of making connections with people who need support.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Whether you are an experienced angler or you just want some good company, everyone is welcome to come to our events.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2026\/02\/Fishing4_76760-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Heathcote Angling Club president Rudi Frahm and member Charlie Miller swapped a few tall tales at the Fishing Friends event last weekend.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is all about slowing down, enjoying the moment and building friendships in the great outdoors.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;People can fish or just sit and chat while supporting loved ones.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Dementia Alliance is a community-based organisation supporting people living with dementia, their carers, and families across the Bendigo region and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>Reflections at Eppalock was created by Dementia Alliance as a space where carers, people living with dementia, and community members can come together to rest, reconnect, and rediscover joy.<\/p>\n<p>Their mission is to build inclusive, dementia-friendly communities through connection, participation, and understanding.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2026\/02\/Fishing6_78392-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Georgie Finnerty and Alan Hough relaxed and enjoyed a quiet moment on the shores of Lake Eppalock.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the Fishing Friends events, Reflections at Eppalock also holds a carers lunch on the first Monday of each month, and a craft group on the last Friday of each month.<\/p>\n<p>The gardening group meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone who would like more information or is interested in volunteering can contact hello@dementiaalliance.com.<\/p>\n<p>The Heathcote Angling Club is holding an Easter raffle in support of Fishing Friends.
