NEW owners at Gaffney’s Bakery, Julia and Dave Gaffney, are making space available for community group displays.<\/p>\n
The first display featured is from Holy Rosary Primary School showcasing Easter-themed artwork by students.<\/p>\n
Eleven-year-old Lily and nine-year-old Ella, whose father Chris Jackson works as production supervisor at the bakery, were thrilled to see their work on display.<\/p>\n
“It was a relief to get mine finished,” said Lily. “I accidently binned my first effort and had to quickly make another one.”<\/p>\n
The Gaffneys will be taking over ownership from Dave’s parents on 1 April.<\/p>\n
“We wanted to do something for the community that supports us,” said Ms Gaffney.<\/p>\n
“We will be changing community groups each month and invite different displays from the CFA, local school and groups such as the Lions Club to participate.<\/p>\n
“The groups will be able to show what they do and recruit new members.”<\/p>\n
Gaffney’s Bakery first opened in in Heathcote in 1996 and also operates Gaffney’s Pie Kitchen in Seymour.<\/p>\n
The bakery is known for its award-winning pies and classic bakery fare, attracting locals and visitors to the area.<\/p>\n
In 2021, the bakery won the Best Regional Bakery Award.<\/p>\n
The Jackson family has a strong connection with Gaffney’s. Mr Jackson’s son Jake also works there.<\/p>\n
“I met my wife Steph, who now works in aged care, while we were both working here,” Mr Jackson said.<\/p>\n
Although the girls love visiting the bakery, they don’t have plans to join the team when they finish school.<\/p>\n
Lily would like to be a professional singer, and Ella hopes to become a learning support assistant.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
