Victorian households could get three hours of free electricity each day under a new state government offer aimed at cutting power bills.<\/p>\n
The Victorian Midday Saver Offer, due to start from 1 October, would provide households three hours of free power in the middle of the day.<\/p>\n
The average household could save up to $300 annually, while those with solar and battery systems could see savings of up to $1,070.<\/p>\n
It will mainly benefit households that use electricity during the day, such as for appliances, heating or cooling, or charging electric vehicles.<\/p>\n
More than 2.8 million households will be eligible for the offer but must opt into the scheme with their energy provides.<\/p>\n
Bellarine MP Alison Marchant said the initiative will put money back into household budgets.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhether you work from home or use smart appliances you can schedule, the Midday Saver Offer makes saving simple,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s about supporting Bellarine \u2013 easing cost-of-living pressure and delivering practical solutions that make everyday life more affordable.\u201d<\/p>\n
Minister for Energy and Resources Lily D’Ambrosio has said the start date for the scheme is not firm and may be brought forward.<\/p>\n
