{"id":103232,"date":"2026-04-24T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-04-23T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/?p=103232"},"modified":"2026-04-22T17:33:57","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T07:33:57","slug":"flower-show-plant-sale-a-blooming-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/news\/flower-show-plant-sale-a-blooming-success\/","title":{"rendered":"Flower show, plant sale a blooming success"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE annual Australian Plant Society Heathcote Flower Show and Plant Sale, held last weekend, has become more than a floral display.<\/p>\n<p>The society invites community members and groups to join them at Barrack Reserve Hall each year to create a special event.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;More than 430 people visited the show on Saturday,&#8221; said secretary Tania Biagioni. &#8220;It was marvellous.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2026\/04\/Flowershow20264_08857.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Australian Plant Society Heathcote secretary Tania Biagioni, with photo judge Rogert Johannsen and president Allan Tinker.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I would like to thank all the volunteers, stall holders, both primary schools and the McIvor Times.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The children&#8217;s artwork was amazing and lifted the whole vibe of the venue.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We will be giving each child who created a picture a plant to encourage the next generation to explore the healing aspects of gardening.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2026\/04\/Flowershow20265_10994.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Matilda Osicka was one of the many students who had their artwork on display at the show.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We had $1000 worth of prizes in our raffle, donated by our generous community. Congratulations to our seven winners.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As well as our displays of native plants, we had some amazing creations from Heathcote Artists Inc and Heathcote writers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our photo competition was judged by local professional photographer Rogert Johannsen. First and second prizes were awarded to Rhyannon and third prize to Marlene.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_103240\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-103240\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-103240\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2026\/04\/Flowershow20266_17135-1-rotated.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"1200\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-103240\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pam Loney was one of the plant society members who treated stall holders to a delicious morning tea and lunch.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;All money raised will go towards our Heathcote Native Garden project.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was such a wonderful day. How blessed we are to live in such an amazing town with so many gorgeous people.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Following the success of their anthology launched at last year&#8217;s show, Heathcote Writers&#8217; Playgroup joined with Heathcote U3A Writing Group to produce another anthology with a nature theme.<\/p>\n<p>The anthology contains stories and poems members have written throughout the year.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_103241\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-103241\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-103241\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2026\/04\/Flowershow20267_79647-1-rotated.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"1200\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-103241\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sue Bier has several poems featured in the combined anthology produced by Heathcote Writers&#8217; Playgroup and Heathcote U3A Writing Group especially for the show.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Priced at $8 per copy it is available from Sandra on 0459 023 481 or meet the Heathcote Writers&#8217; Playgroup on Tuesday afternoons from 1pm to 3pm.<\/p>\n<p>Raffle prize donors included IGA, Mitre 10, Segafredos, McIvor meats, Palling Bros Brewery, Capture Your Essence, Union Hotel, Red Edge Winery, Heathcote Winery, Saarinen Organics and Habitat Native Nursery.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone who would like more information about the Australian Plant Society Heathcote can email <a href=\"mailto:apsheathcoteinc@outlook.com\">apsheathcoteinc@outlook.com<\/a> or phone 0425 707 606.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE annual Australian Plant Society Heathcote Flower Show and Plant Sale, held last weekend, has become more than a floral display.
