NOMINATIONS for the 2026 Victorian Multicultural Awards for Excellence, which pay tribute to exceptional individuals and groups working to strengthen multiculturalism across the state, are now open.<\/p>\n

Marking their 25th anniversary this year, the awards are composed of 13 categories, such as arts and culture, business and employment, the Multicultural Honour Roll and the Premier’s award for intercultural connection.<\/p>\n

Last year, regional Victorian awardees included Greater Shepparton City Council (local government award) for partnering with multicultural organisations to build community resilience, while Ballarat’s Dellaram Vreeland took home the media award for her work in print and digital media.<\/p>\n

Multicultural Connect Central Victoria’s Harambee Homework Club also received a highly commended nod in the refugee young leader category.<\/p>\n

Victorian Multicultural Commission chairperson Vivienne Nguyen AM said the tireless work of organisations and individuals creating an inclusive and prosperous Victoria deserves recognition, advocacy and celebration.<\/p>\n

“Seize the opportunity to nominate remarkable initiatives and programs that ensure our diverse communities are supported and connected,” she said.<\/p>\n

Minister for Multicultural and Multifaith Victoria Ingrid Stitt said, ” Victoria’s diversity is one of our greatest strengths and we should always celebrate the people who are working tirelessly to build a united, more inclusive Victoria.”<\/p>\n

“If you know a Victorian who has made a contribution – I encourage you to nominate them for an award,” she said.<\/p>\n

To put forward a person or organisation before the 13 July deadline, go to the Victorian Multicultural Commission website at multiculturalcommission.vic.gov.au<\/a><\/p>\n
