“A church is not a building, it’s the people,” said Pastor Ian Davey, who wears a jumper rather than a clerical collar.<\/p>\n
Services average between 20 to 30 people who sit at tables and enjoy a cuppa and biscuit during the service.<\/p>\n

“Many of the original members still attend regularly, although some have passed away,” said congregation member Bronwyn Wheatly.<\/p>\n
“New members have been welcomed each year.<\/p>\n
“Ian pays chaplaincy visits to Heathcote Health residents and conducts a monthly shortened service, with plenty of singing, for residents who want to join in.<\/p>\n
“He is also a familiar face assisting with RSL services for Anzac and Remembrance Day services.”<\/p>\n
Pastor Davey and his wife Gayle retired to Heathcote 12 years ago and have become regular fixtures around the town, but he happily admits it’s not really been a retirement.<\/p>\n
The Wesleyan Methodist Church welcomes everyone, and their motto is to come as you are.<\/p>\n
