{"id":103737,"date":"2026-06-17T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-06-16T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/?p=103737"},"modified":"2026-06-17T04:00:00","modified_gmt":"2026-06-16T18:00:00","slug":"improving-safety-at-footy-netball-clubs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/news\/improving-safety-at-footy-netball-clubs\/","title":{"rendered":"Improving safety at footy-netball clubs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>IN partnership with WorkSafe Victoria, AFL Victoria has announced financial assistance of up to $5000 for country football clubs to assist with safety upgrades and repairs to club facilities.<\/p>\n<p>WorkSafe has supported country football in Victoria since 2002, through the WorkSafe Club Safety fund, aiming to enhance safety for players, volunteers and spectators.<\/p>\n<p>More than 350 community clubs have received funding for projects such as the installation of netting behind goals, a portable marquee, an enclosed timekeeper box, and upgrading clubhouse kitchen flooring.<\/p>\n<p>Head of AFL Victoria Greg Madigan said community football clubs are the heartbeat of rural and regional towns.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is so important that we continue to support clubs in upgrading their facilities to improve not only the safety but enjoyment of the loyal members, volunteers and players that keep country footy alive,&#8221; Madigan said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As we celebrate 25 seasons of partnership with WorkSafe, we thank them for continuing to provide vital funding through programs such as the Club Safety Fund.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These funding initiatives help footy clubs in often very remote areas continue to provide a safe and comfortable place for their community to unite over our great game.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I encourage all country footy clubs in need of funding to make the most of this opportunity and to apply for a grant in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Even a small safety improvement can make a significant difference.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>WorkSafe Victoria CEO Cathy Henderson said the fund has been instrumental in improving safety at regional and rural clubs.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Since its inception, the WorkSafe Club Safety Fund has helped hundreds of clubs improve their facilities to provide safer and more welcoming environments for their players, staff, volunteers and supporters,&#8221; Henderson said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Working safe is a team sport, which is why we are committed to supporting the local football and netball clubs that bring Victoria&#8217;s regional communities together.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>To apply for funding from the WorkSafe Club Safety Fund, clubs must provide evidence that a financial grant is needed to improve the safety of their grounds and surrounding buildings.<\/p>\n<p>Full eligibility criteria and the link to apply is available at <a href=\"http:\/\/aflvic.smartygrants.com.au\/CSF26\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">aflvic.smartygrants.com.au\/CSF26<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>IN partnership with WorkSafe Victoria, AFL Victoria has announced financial assistance of up to $5000 for country football clubs to assist with safety upgrades and repairs to club facilities.
