SUNNY skies greeted 50 participants and 20 volunteers at the second McIvor Creek parkrun trial last weekend.<\/p>\n

The trial was a key step before an official launch date can be confirmed.<\/p>\n

Director Roy Munro said it was great to see the event finally happening.<\/p>\n

“As long as we have volunteers, we will be able to continue,” he said.<\/p>\n

“I am very pleased with the number of participants and volunteers who turned up.<\/p>\n

“The event will be great for the town; another string in the community bow.<\/p>\n

“It doesn’t cost anything and participants can bring their kids and dogs.<\/p>\n

“Every weekend, thousands of people participate in parkrun all over the country.<\/p>\n

“It is good not only for physical health but also mental health.<\/p>\n

“Participants meet with others and make new friends and connections.<\/p>\n

“Visitors from other towns and people passing through are all welcome to attend as well as holidaymakers from the nearby caravan park.<\/p>\n

“I would like to thank everyone who turned up for the trials.<\/p>\n

“We hope we will have an official launch date very soon.”<\/p>\n

Every Saturday, participants walk, run or jog parkrun courses at more than 500 locations around Australia.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Greg Leslie attended the trial and thanked the organisers for all their hard work.<\/p>\n

“It has taken an incredible amount of work to get to this stage, and we look forward to confirmation of an official Heathcote parkrun,” he said.<\/p>\n

Michelle Chapman said the proposed McIvor Creek Trail parkrun had reached an exciting milestone.<\/p>\n

“We are currently awaiting confirmation of an official launch date from parkrun global and can now move confidently into the next phase of planning,” she said.<\/p>\n

“A key step before launch is to ensure our volunteer team is well prepared and that the course operates smoothly and safely.<\/p>\n

“Supporting our volunteers is a top priority, and your involvement will help create a welcoming and well-run experience for everyone.”<\/p>\n
