LA Trobe University-owned land at Flora Hill is set to be overhauled for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, and community members are being asked to help shape the planning.<\/p>\n
The site\u2019s overhaul is being delivered by Development Victoria and set to house 1600 visiting athletes and officials.<\/p>\n
Public consultation is being requested to identify the use of the location after the Games\u2019 are done.<\/p>\n
Development Victoria\u2019s interim group head for the Commonwealth Games, Geoff Ward, said it\u2019s important the community has their say on the site\u2019s legacy.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re asking people to tell us what makes the La Trobe University site at Flora Hill unique, and what we can do to help transform it into a vibrant and sustainable community for the long term,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cVictoria 2026 will also invest significantly in community infrastructure, including housing and world-class sports facilities.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis will leave a legacy of affordable housing for the regions and modern sports infrastructure to encourage Victorians to get active and attract future major events.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to hear from local residents, businesses, community groups, clubs and organisations in and around Bendigo about what makes the Flora Hill location special now, and how to enhance this for the Games, and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n
Input can be given via an online survey at bit.ly\/3sZf1WG until Sunday, 4 December, which will cover priorities, features and community benefits.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
