{"id":86457,"date":"2022-11-25T04:55:57","date_gmt":"2022-11-24T17:55:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=86457"},"modified":"2022-11-25T04:55:57","modified_gmt":"2022-11-24T17:55:57","slug":"call-for-info-on-dog-baiting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/news\/call-for-info-on-dog-baiting\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for info on dog baiting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE RSPCA is calling for information about suspected illegal dog baiting along the Bendigo Creek Trail in Epsom and White Hills.<\/p>\n<p>The call comes after the RSPCA received a report of animal cruelty relating to alleged illegal dog baiting that took place near the Buckland Street entrance to the creek trail.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnimals that ingest poisonous baits suffer significantly and this type of malicious act of cruelty can result in death,\u201d said RSPCA Victoria Inspectorate team leader Karen Collier.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are pleading for the public\u2019s help to identify the person responsible so that we can protect dogs and other animals in the Bendigo area and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is an offence under the <em>Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act<\/em> to intentionally administer or lay bait for an animal that contains a poison or substance that has a harmful effect.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBaiting incidents that result in the death of an animal, attract penalties of up to 250 penalty units which equate to $46,230 or 12 months imprisonment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe would like to hear from anyone who has information about this incident or can help identify anyone involved.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A statement from the RSPCA said that if you suspect your dog has consumed poisonous bait to contact a vet urgently, and information about illegal baiting can be reported to 9224 2222 or at <strong>rspcavic.org<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE RSPCA is calling for information about suspected illegal dog baiting along the Bendigo Creek Trail in Epsom and White Hills.
