NEW Essendon coach Brad Scott has tempered expectations surrounding the Bombers this season.<\/p>\n
While the club finished 15th in 2022, Bombers fans are hoping for a quick rebound under Scott after playing finals a season prior in 2021.<\/p>\n
Despite perhaps underperforming last campaign, Scott said he won\u2019t get \u201ctoo involved\u201d in finals projections as the team will \u201ctake time to develop\u201d.<\/p>\n
Brownlow medallist Gerard Healy and Kane Cornes discussed Scott\u2019s approach on SEN\u2019s Sportsday and agreed that his mantra is a smart one as he buys himself time to gradually build from the ground up.<\/p>\n
\u201cBrad Scott spoke to the media\u2026 at Essendon\u2026 he said he\u2019s been impressed by the capability on the list but, \u2018The reality is facts are, we are very young\u2019, they\u2019re going to take some time to develop,\u201d said Cornes.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery time he has spoken, and I don\u2019t mind this, he\u2019s been conditioning the Essendon fans for patience.\u201d<\/p>\n
Healy, added, \u201cUnder promise and overdeliver I think has been his mantra.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt seems a pretty smart way to go about it for me.\u201d<\/p>\n
Cornes followed up with, \u201cI reckon it is, it\u2019s building from the young list, get the foundations right, set the standards and then [looking forward].<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019re not even putting on the radar the possibility of finals next year I don\u2019t think.\u201d<\/p>\n
Scott joins the Bombers will 10 years of coaching experience under his belt with North Melbourne from 2010 to 2019.<\/p>\n
His first game in charge of the red and black will come in round one when Essendon face rivals Hawthorn at the MCG.<\/p>\n
