EMERGING artist Jessie Bleakley doesn\u2019t shy from a challenge.<\/p>\n

Last year she completed her RMIT bachelor of fine arts at home while pregnant and with an energetic toddler for company.<\/p>\n

Now she\u2019s jumped into organising a solo gallery show, Quietude<\/em>, from scratch.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt would have been easy for me to wait to do a solo show with a curator,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been a challenge to do it all myself, but it’s also giving me a real understanding of what’s involved and I feel really proud.<\/p>\n

Quietude<\/em> showcases work she describes as \u201cdefinitely intriguing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has layers of texture and there’s definitely an aesthetic of nature as an inspiration\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt’s very bright and colourful, and regardless of whether the pieces are sculpture or textiles or mixed media I believe that my aesthetic translates between those mediums.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe artwork is inspired by the shapes and details found within flowers, leaves, feathers and other objects found within nature.\u201d<\/p>\n
